Apologies I did not send an email yesterday. During yesterdays marathon we were running into a sandstorm, Sandstorms are insane, I got totally sand blasted the entire time. I was so knackered when I got back I pretty much passed out in the tent.
Plenty of dunes yesterday and there was more of the same today. We also had to get up a sand mountain. This thing was too big to be a dune it was like trying to walk up a downwards escalator made out of mashed potato. The second was a rocky moutain about 350 metres in height with a very steep incline and decline.
None of the route is actual roads. The best you can hope for is a hard surface with a couple of million rocks scattered about it. My sand gaiters have ripped so I have trainers full of the stuff which is a bit pants.
Double marathon tomorrow, Can you please forward onto firstname.lastname@example.org
Email from baby dave who is currently doing 2011 marathon des sables.

Morocco is unbelievable, Got myself in a tent with some quality people,
Today was the first race, 20 miles which was a mix of 6 miles of flat hard rocky road running then 7 miles of sand dunes with a elevevation of 700 metres over the 7 miles. my rucksack weighs 13kg including water so dragging it and myself up and down the dunes almost sent me into total meltdown. Finished off by 6 more miles of rocky running.
Temp is 42 degrees at peak and its windy as hell. Got another 20 miler tomorrow with more sand dunes!
The experience is amazing so far, I have seen dunes the size of a city and the height os a sky scraper as well as a stary sky with such volume and clarity it illuminated the desert.
When it got hard on the dunes and I almost had a cry max I thought of you all spurring me on and just kept putting one foot infront of another.
Can you please do me a big favour and forward this onto firstname.lastname@example.org
